The red panda has reddish-brown fur on its body and a long scattered hairy tail. Its front legs are smaller than the back legs. It is roughly the size of a domestic cat, although the Red Panda has a longer body.
It is also known as Lesser Panda, The Red Bear Cat, and The Red Cat-Bear. Red pandas feed mainly on bamboo leaves, also eat seasonal fruits, seeds, small insects, and bird eggs.
State Bird of Sikkim -Blood Pheasant
The scientific name of blood pheasant is Ithaginis cruentus.
The Blood Pheasant is the state bird of Sikkim. It is also known as blood partridge. The blood pheasant, the state bird of the state of Sikkim, is mainly found in India, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, and Nepal.
In the Indian state of Sikkim, it is known as Semo while in Nepal it is known as Chilimia. There is no Hindi name for the blood pheasant.
The name Blood Pheasant probably got its name from the reddish red stripe around its eyes.
Both the male and female blood pheasant have red legs and a ruddy red stripe around the eyes. The blood pheasant is roughly the size of a wild chicken and looks a bit like a pheasant. The blood pheasant eats the shoots, fruits, seeds and insects of trees.
The blood pheasant was the national bird of Sikkim even before the merger of Sikkim with India, which later became the state bird of Sikkim after its merger with India.
State Flower of Sikkim-Orchid
The scientific name of the Nobel orchid is Dendrobium nobile.
Nobile Orchid is the state flower of Sikkim.
It is also known as Noble Dendrobium or Dendrobium Nobile.
Noble Dendrobium is a very attractive small and medium-sized flower with yellow, green, orange, and purple colors.
Apart from India, orchid flowers are also found in Tibet, southern China, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and Hawaii.
It is a tender plant that blooms in winter and spring.
These fragrant flowers are 5-7 cm in diameter and are variable in colour. Typically, the base of the petals is pale pink or white, turning a strong sapphire-purple towards the tip.
State Tree of Sikkim-Rhododendron Niveum
The scientific name of Rhododendron Niveum is Rhododendron Niveum.
Rhododendron niveum is the state tree of Sikkim. Rhododendron arboreum, a species of Rhododendron, is the state tree of the state of Uttarakhand.
Rhododendron nivem is mainly found in Sikkim, China, Tibet, and Bhutan. There are 45 to 50 species of Rhododendron found in Sikkim.
Its leaves are thick and flowers are bell-shaped red in color.
Most of the flowers of Rhododendron are beautiful and attractive with deep red color. Apart from this, rhododendrons also have pink, white, blue, and yellow flowers. But there is no fragrance in any flower of Rhododendron.
