The female literacy rate in Rajasthan is just 32%. In such a situation, this school in the Kanoi village of Jaisalmer is giving a new enthusiasm to the girls.

This unique school has been designed by American architects Diana Kellogg and Michael Daube, founder of the non-profit organization CITTA. Diana Kellogg came to visit India in 2014 and seeing the beautiful buildings, art, and architecture of Rajasthan made it easy for her to build the project and understand the design.

Diana Kellogg and her team focused on several key elements given the harsh desert environment and built the building's oval shape to filter out the sun's rays.

It took Diana and Michael a decade i.e. 10 years to build the RRGS school. To make this project successful, the owner of Suryagraha Palace Hotel Manvendra Singh Shekhawat donated 22 bighas of land to the CITTA Foundation.

Chaitanya Raj Singh and Rajeshwari Rajya Laxmi of the royal family of Jaisalmer have also contributed to preparing this school (Girls School). The school can accommodate 400 girls and has been built to provide education from Kindergarten to Class 10th.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee has used a block print of Akharaj from Rajasthan and natural dye originating from Gujarat to make the pattern of this dress. This uniform knee-length frock consisting of a round neck and a three-cutter stone embroidered maroon slag and also has two pockets. This uniform has been named 'Akhraj'.

This building has been built by Michael Dube's NGO (CIITA) of America. In this part named 'Gyan Kendra' of Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School, girls from below poverty line families are educated. 400 girl students from Kindergarten to class 10th study in this school. The complex also houses a textile museum and performance hall. In addition, it has also provided exhibition space for artisans to sell their crafts. In a part of the same building, women will be trained in traditional arts, such as weaving and textiles, to preserve the lost handicrafts. The school is a symbol of women's empowerment as well as a sustainability model. The solar-powered roof, lime walls, and lattice windows keep it cool from inside even in extreme heat. Apart from this, there is much more special in this school.
