About Adiyogi Shiva Statue:

The Adiyogi is the statue of Lord Shiva. This is 112ft tall, it is believed that the height symbolizes the 112 chakras, the focal points of the body, which are used in meditation and also symbolize the 112 possibilities to attain moksha. It was built to promote yoga. Adiyogi means the first yogi and Lord Shiva is known to be the originator of yoga. It weighs around 5000 tonnes made up of steel and the face is made up of small pieces of metal put together, which is a first-of-its-kind. It is located 30 km away from the Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu, one can board a local bus or hire a private taxi to reach there. The statue was inaugurated on 24th February 2017 by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

The Statue is designed by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev. It took him 2.5 years to design the statue. It is the world’s largest bust sculpture and has already been recognized by the Guinness World Records. It is built and owned by a non-profit organization. The Statue is included in Incredible India by the Ministry of Tourism.  It frequently holds cultural programs, games, dinners, discourses, and other interesting events in front of the Adiyogi Shiva statue. Divya Darshanam – Adiyogi:

Divya Darshanam of Adiyogi is a 3D Lase Show that narrates the story of Adiyogi to the devotees and tourists who visit the Adiyogi Statue. In this show science of the yoga is also narrated and how it helps human beings. Adiyogi Statue was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on the occasion of the Mahashivratri back in 2019. This Laser 3D Show is a 14 minutes show and is projected upon the Adiyogi Statue. This show mainly occurs on auspicious days and weekends. Adiyogi Divya Darshanam won the Mondo dr EMEA & APAC Award for Technology in the entertainment in House worship category.

Facts About Adiyogi:

  • Adiyogi holds the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Largest Bust Structure”. The first image of Adiyogi is 150 feet long, and 25 feet wide, and 500 tons of steel has been used to make this Statue.
  • Adiyogi Divya Darshanam is a 3D Laser Show which can be witnessed on weekends, Purnima, Amavasya, and other auspicious days. The timing for this 3D Laser show is from 8 PM to 8.15 PM.
  • On every Purnima (Full Moon Night) a music concert is organized which is performed from 10.30 PM to 11.30 PM

  • Devotees who visit Adiyogi can offer Vastram to Adiyogi. Adiyogi statue is surrounded by 621 tridents and devotees can tie a black cloth to any of these tridents.

  • There is a 2 Km Circumambulation known as Adiyogi Pradakshina of the Dhyanalinga and Adiyogi.

  • The Yogeshwar Linga is inscribed with the chant “Shambho” in four South Indian Languages that is Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

  • There are 1,00,008 Rudraksha Beads Mala is worn by Adiyogi, which is the world’s largest Rudraksha Mala.

Timing and Entry Fee at Adiyogi Shiva Statue:

  • The Yogeshwar Linga Temple and the Adiyogi Shiva Statue are open from 6 AM to 8 PM every day. Timings can be changed for special occasions.
  • Isha Foundation doesn’t charge any fee to the visitors and devotees who want to pay a visit to the Adiyogi.

How to reach the Adiyogi:

The Adiyogi Shiva statue is situated in Coimbatore.

  • By Bus: One can take a bus ride to reach Adiyogi Shiva Statue from Gandhipuram Bus station to Dhyanalinga Complex which is 45 minutes travel and from there one has to take 10 minutes to walk to reach there.
  • By Car: Coimbatore is well connected by railways and airports. So, after reaching Coimbatore one can take a car ride to reach Adiyogi. It will take 90 minutes to reach there.
