The draft notification (vide GSR 57(E) dated 29 Jan 2021) has been uploaded on the Ministry’s website for public consultation and can be formally issued after this stage.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) aims to bring down the number of road accidents to half by the year 2025. During the National Road Safety Council meeting, Nitin Gadkari had stated that reducing accidents isn't a gradual process and it should be treated as a top priority with immediate effect. Gadkari had also suggested involving social media on a serious basis for awareness and education about road safety measures.
